Salisbury Police have identified the teenager who was shot late Tuesday night as Tyrone Angle Jr. of Salisbury.
The 16-year-old was shot Tuesday night in an exchange of gunfire in the 900 block of W. Horah St. Police were called to the scene around 10:43 p.m. to shots fired in the area.
A police officer found Angle shot once in the upper body around 10:45 p.m. in a vacant lot.
Angle was walking with his cousin, Raylin Woodruff, 17, of Winston-Salem, when he was shot.
Police say the incident was not a drive-by shooting, but both parties were on foot.
Investigators have a suspect but have not charged anyone.
Rowan-Salisbury School system officials say Angle was not enrolled in any of their schools.
