Police chase ends in crash in China Grove

A chase in China Grove involving a motorcycle ended with at least three people being taken to the hospital.
Rowan County Sheriff Deputy C.T. Earnhardt was dispatched to an alarm call Tuesday at 6:39 p.m. in the area of N.C. 152 west.
He pulled into a nearby parking lot where he noticed a motorcycle pass him. Earnhardt pulled back onto the roadway and the motorcycle accelerated, said Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford.
The motorcycle passed a tractor trailer and pickup and the officer lost sight of him, Sifford said.
The officer had alerted nearby agencies, giving a description of the motorcycle. Rowan Deputy M.D. Hoffman was helping in the pursuit when he struck a mini van and the intersection of N.C. 152 and Main Street.
China Grove Police also assisted in the chase.
The driver of the van, whose name was not available, indicated she was OK. Deputy Hoffman and both the driver and passenger of the van were taken to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast. Hoffman was released later the same night.
No information was available on the driver and passenger.
No other information was available on the motorcyclist.
