Pfeiffer hosting award-winning poet today and Friday

Pfeiffer will host award-winning poet Joseph Bathanti for a writing workshop today and a reading of his works Friday.
The workshop begins at 3:30 today in the Stokes Student Center, Room 213, on the university’s Misenheimer campus.
The reading will be 10 a.m. Friday in the community room at the Stokes Student Center.
A renowned poet, Pittsburgh native Bathanti has penned four books of poetry and received the Oscar Arnold Young Award from the N.C. Poetry Council for best book of poems by a North Carolina writer. His first novel, “East Liberty,” won the Carolina Novel Award. His latest novel, “Coventry,” won the 2006 Novello Literary Award.
Bathanti holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English literature from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from Warren Wilson College. He is a professor at Appalachian State University.
