Parkinson’s group observes anniversary
The Rowan Parkinson’s Group recently observed its second anniversary. In two short years, the group has grown from six member families to 30.
The group has affiliated with the Parkinson’s Association of the Carolinas, based in Charlotte.
Membership is comprised of those living with Parkinson’s disease and their families. The group offers programs of interest and support. Recent presenters have included Parkinson’s counselors, medical professionals, dieticians, a driving instructor, and more.
Dee Williams founded the local chapter with her husband Charles, who is now deceased. She wants to reach out to those who have been diagnosed with the disease.
The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, in the fellowship hall. They will meet Tuesday, June 2, and celebrate their anniversary.
