This year, not only will visitors be able to stroll through Historic Salisbury Foundation’s annual showcase of historic homes, they’ll be able to run through it.
The foundation is adding a 5K run to events surrounding its annual OctoberTour of Homes.
The inaugural OT5K, which at 8 a.m. on Oct. 10, “will show preservation at its finest as runners stride through our historic town and witness these continuing efforts” to preserve and protect historic buildings, a press release said.
“The course meanders through tree-covered roads, showing off our West Square and Fulton Heights Historic Districts.”
As an effort to promote sustainability and community awareness, the foundation has created a 3.1-mile course filled with architecture, history, antiques and restoration. The event, which starts at the corner of Monroe and Fulton streets, also includes a fun run. For course and race registration, visit www.historicsalisbury.org.
The weekend of Oct. 10-11 features Historic Salisbury Foundation’s Annual OctoberTour of Homes and Bank Street Activities, Livingstone College Homecoming Parade and the Jazz and Blues Festival.
