Rodney Bass, the principal at North Rowan High School for the past four years, has resigned.
Bass will return to the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools where he has been hired as principal at Atkins High School of Computer Technology, according to published reports.
Bass led the effort to put iPods in the hands of North Rowan freshmen as learning tools, a program that drew approval from students and parents.
“Students now have more knowledge in the palm of their hands then they would ever have through books or even during the general school day,” Bass said.
He previously served five years as an assistant principal at East Forsyth High School in Kernersville. He also served as assistant principal at Parkland High School and taught history for several years at North Forsyth High.
Dr. Wiley Doby, Former superintendent, recommended Bass, who was hired by the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education in July 2005.
Neither Bass or officials of the Rowan-Salisbury Schools was immediately available for comment.
The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education meets for a work session at 5 p.m. Monday at the Long Street office in East Spencer.
