L. Rodney Burton has been selected as the new principal at Knox Middle School.
Burton, the assistant principal at North Rowan Middle, will replace Gerald MoragneEl, who resigned Sept. 8 for personal reasons.
The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education voted unanimously to hire Burton after going into closed session at Monday ‘s work session to discuss a personnel matter.
Board member Karen South Carpenter said Burton was recommended to the board by a committee of school personnel, teachers and parents. The committee interviewed about 13 applicants.
“He will do a wonderful job at Knox,” she said. “He has strong credentials, both in curriculum and discipline. I think he’ll be a fantastic principal.”
