A man severely injured in a motorcycle accident on Shinn Farm Road Friday remains in critical condition.
Lindsey Radford, 54, and his wife Judy, 54, both of Shinville Road, Mooresville, were flown by medical helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center Friday night.
Lindsey Radford remains hospitalized. His wife was released, according to a hospital spokesman.
Trooper David Deal with the N.C. Highway Patrol said the Radfords were on a Harley-Davidson cruiser-style bike going north on Shinn Farm Road following a car that was also going north.
Deal said there was no indication of speeding, but the bike was going faster than the car.
Just as the bike pulled out to pass, the driver Charles Smith, 66, of Shinn Farm Road turned left into his driveway.
The bike struck Smith’s Ford Taurus station wagon in the driver’s side door. Both Radfords were ejected from the bike and thrown 8 to 10 feet onto a driveway.
Both were wearing Department of Transportation-approved helmets, but Deal said they were not full-face helmets.
Deal said Lindsey Radford’s injuries were the most serious.
A large number of family members and friends gathered at the hospital Friday night.
Smith, the driver of the car, was not injured.
No charges have been filed. The investigation is continuing.
