Mooresville among sites for ‘tea party’ protests

Mooresville is among cities across the nation where “tea parties” are planned today to protest bailouts and government spending.
The rallies are set for Tax Day ó today ó the deadline for filing state and federal income taxes.
Huge tea party events are planned in major cities across the nation harkening back to the original Boston Tea Party where colonists protested taxation without representation.
More than a dozen are planned in towns across North Carolina.
A tea party rally is planned in Mooresville in front of the U.S. Post Office on Williamson Road from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Citizens from Iredell County organized the party and are inviting area conservatives and all others who want to express concern about federal spending.
Other parties are planned in Charlotte, Greensboro, Wilmington, Asheville, Southern Pines and Roanoke Rapids.
