Larry Washington
Air Force Airman Larry S. Washington has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, core values, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree relating through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Doris Washington of Salisbury.
The airman is a 2002 graduate of North Rowan High School, Spencer.
Darrell Tucker
Air Force Airman Darrell F. Tucker has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Tucker is the son of Darrell Tucker of Salisbury and Darlene Shuford of Charlotte.
The airman is a 2008 graduate of West Rowan High School, Salisbury.
Trevor Walter
Air Force Airman Trevor W. Walter has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, core values, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

He is the son of Angie and Robert Walter of China Grove.
The airman is a 2008 graduate of South Rowan High School, China Grove.
Mark Pickett
Army National Guard Maj. Mark E. Pickett is currently deployed in Iraq to support the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Operation Iraqi Freedom is the official name given to military operations involving members of the U.S. armed forces and coalition forces participating in efforts to free and secure Iraq. Mission objectives focus on force protection, peacekeeping, stabilization, security and counter-insurgency operations as the Iraqi transitional governing bodies assume full sovereign powers to govern the peoples of Iraq.
Members from all branches of the U.S. military and multinational forces are also assisting in rebuilding Iraq’s economic and governmental infrastructure, and training and preparing Iraqi military and security forces to assume full authority and responsibility in defending and preserving Iraq’s sovereignty and independence as a democracy.
Pickett, chief of operations and plans, is assigned to the 449th Theater Aviation Brigade, Morrisville. He has served in the military for more than 16 years.
He is the son of Thomas J. and Karen S. Pickett of Salisbury.
The major graduated in 1992 from North Rowan High School, Spencer, and received a bachelor’s degree in 1997 from North Carolina State University, Raleigh.
Benjamin GaisfordAir Force Airman Benjamin S. Gaisford has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of William and Kristine Gaisford of Salisbury.
The airman is a 2003 graduate of East Rowan High School.
Charles Fisher
Charles M. Fisher of Salisbury was recently sworn in to the United States Coast Guard.
A 2005 graduate of the Henderson Independent High School in Salisbury, Fisher signed on for a six year tour pending satisfactory completion of his basic training requirement at Fort May in New Jersey.
Fisher is the son of Dr. Ada M. Fisher of Salisbury.
