Michael to receive Eagle Scout award

Patrick Lewis Michael, 17, will receive his Eagle Scout award today at Gay’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Myron Michael, Scoutmaster of Troop 476, sponsored by St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, made the presentation.
Michael, the son of Myron and Laura Michael of Woodleaf Road, is a junior at North Hills Christian School. He has earned 40 merit badges and is patrol leader.
He has earned the Arrow of Light, God and Me and God and Family awards. He swam the mile swim twice and earned both Boy Scout and American Red Cross lifeguard certification.
He is an all-conference player on the basketball team and plays baseball.
His Eagle Scout project was designing and getting donations for fencing and mulch for the playground at Gay’s Chapel Church.
He is a junior firefighter with Franklin Fire Department, a member of Gay’s Chapel and on its church council. He received the Service Above Self award from the Rowan Rotary Club in cooperation with the United Way for helping seniors.
