Two Burlington-area men were in custody this morning after being charged with felony larceny of a small front-end loader.
Bobby Leon Tart Jr., 29, of Burlington and Ramiro Silva Valdez, 42, of Graham are charged with felony larceny, felony conspiracy, and possession of a key or device for breaking and entering.
Tart is also charged with resisting a public officer.
The two are charged with trying to steal a Bobcat loader valued at $15,000. The Bobcat is listed as belonging to Kim Barringer of Salisbury.
Rowan County deputies say the men had master keys and a bolt cutter.
The resisting a public officer charge comes from Tart “jumping off the Bobcat and fleeing on foot,” according to the warrant. The officer involved was Deputy J. Alderman.
Tart has an extensive criminal record dating back to 1999. N.C. Department of Corrections records show that he has been convicted in Alamance, Rowan and Cabarrus counties for, among other charges, larceny and breaking and entering.
Valdez has served time for driving while intoxicated and driving with a revoked license.
