A 19-year-old Salisbury man was upgraded from critical to serious condition Tuesday following an accident Monday afternoon.
Jeremy Bruce Eagle, of 1225 Chez Charloais Road, was riding a 2006 Qingqi scooter north on Long Street toward East Spencer when, a witness told a Salisbury police officer, he ran a red light and crashed into a 1998 Ford Expedition.
The driver of the Expedition, Morris Keith Jones, 36, of 822 Brookmont Ave., Salisbury, was crossing Long Street at Bringle Ferry Road when the wreck occurred at 2:33 p.m., Salisbury Master Police Officer J.P. Miller said.
Eagle was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center, then flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was wearing a helmet but suffered head trauma, Miller said.
Miller said Eagle is a senior at East Rowan High.
