Man struck by car in China Grove

CHINA GROVE ó An elderly man went through a car’s windshield after being struck Monday evening on North Main Street.
The man, who emergency medical responders said appeared to be around 80, was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center by ambulance after responders requested flight service but were told the weather had prevented helicopters from flying.
The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Main and Corriher Gravel Road, according to emergency radio communication.
Rescue workers had to cut away the windshield of the car to get the man out.
