Man charged in Rockwell home invasion

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division charged a Rowan County man with a July home invasion and robbery in Rockwell.
The home invasion and robbery occurred in the early morning hours of July 16.
Three males wearing masks entered the home of Justin Murphy, 256 Wilcoy Road, Rockwell, through the front door.
The suspects demanded money and one suspect displayed a handgun. The armed suspect beat Brandon Goins in the face, causing several cuts to the his face and head. The suspect took money and left.
Sheriff’s detectives identified Garrett Chalk, 23, as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. He was found in an apartment on U.S. 601. Chalk was charged Friday with four counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
