A driver who almost ran over a Salisbury firefighter and tried to elude police faces multiple charges.
Stuart Laron Butler-Brown, 23, of 901 S. Jackson St., was charged with driving while impaired and not having an operator’s license.
Salisbury Police Officer J.G. Thompson reported he had finished a call Saturday afternoon when he encountered the Salisbury Fire Department, which had a road near Livingstone College blocked.
Thompson said he pulled his patrol vehicle to the side of the road and waited for the fire department to clear.
While waiting, he saw a gold Toyota Camry pull around his patrol vehicle and attempt to drive between the firetruck and a parked car.
Thompson said the car came close to hitting a firefighter but was stopped by another firefighter.
The car then backed away from the truck and left the area at an unsafe rate of speed, according to the report.
The vehicle ran a stop sign at the entrance to the college and swerved in both lanes of traffic as Thompson attempted to catch up and stop the vehicle.
Thompson pulled the vehicle over on West Thomas Street. He found a girl passed out in the back seat of the car and the smell of alcohol in the vehicle.
