Literary Bookpost to host children's event Friday

Published 12:00 am Tuesday, December 1, 2009

On Friday from 4-6 p.m. Literary Bookpost will host its first big event in the children’s area with a contest, a party and giveaways.
The contest: Neil Gaiman has put out a call to independent bookstores across the country to throw a party themed around his Newbery Medal-winning novel, “The Graveyard Book.” A winner will be selected from the participating stores and Gaiman will visit that store in December for a reading, discussion and signing.
The party: The day before Halloween the downstairs of Literary Bookpost will be transformed into Nobody Owens’ graveyard, complete with grave rubbings. As in most graveyards, door prizes will be abundant and Graveyard Snacks will be provided.
If you have not yet read “The Graveyard Book” but you love parties and graveyards, fear not, Literary Bookpost will be running a 10 percent discount on the book for all party-goers. Hint: Those who come dressed as their favorite characters from “The Graveyard Book” will be awarded with additional giveaways.
Literary Bookpost is located at 110 S. Main St. For more information on this event and upcoming events, please call 704-630-9788 or visit www.literarybookpost.com.
