CLEVELAND ó The Cleveland Lions Club will hold its annual Brunswick stew fundraiser Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or until the stew is sold out.
The cost is $5 per person to dine in or $6 per quart for takeout.
Stew can also be purchased in larger quantities: a half gallon for $11, three quarts for $17, or a gallon for $20.
The Brunswick stew fundraiser has been a fall tradition of the Cleveland Lions Club for more than 40 years. The club uses the proceeds to help hearing-impaired and visually impaired people in the Cleveland community.
From its beginnings with one pot cooked over an open fire to pots cooked on the porch of the Lions’ Den, the event has been a time for community fellowship and good food. The contents ó chicken, beef, pork, potatoes, onions and crushed tomatoes ó are cooked overnight to make a hearty stew.
