Leaf pickup schedule

Published 12:00 am Tuesday, December 1, 2009

The city of Salisbury’s Public Services Department will begin scheduled loose leaf collection on Monday and continue collecting leaves through March 2010. Loose leaves and grass will continue to be collected on an as-needed basis, during weekly yard waste collection, from March 31, 2010 to Oct. 14, 2010. Residents will receive a printed schedule with their next Salisbury-Rowan Utilities water statement.
Leaves are scheduled for collection within a designated area each week.
Residents should rake leaves to the curb by 7 a.m. the Monday of pickup to ensure collection. Rocks, limbs, and other waste matter should not be included in leaf piles because of the potential for damaging the leaf machine and delaying collection. Sticks and limbs should be stacked within the yard area and should not be placed in the roadway or upon established sidewalks. Limbs should not extend beyond the curb into the roadway.
Residents should move all vehicles and overhead obstructions from the curb area to permit access to leaves. Leaf vacuuming produces a fine debris which may settle on nearby vehicles. The city does not clean vehicles on which leaf debris has settled.
