Knife confiscated at dance

An 11-year-old boy may have been a bit too prepared for a dance for elementary school children.
The boy showed up at East Rowan High School Saturday with a pocket knife according to a report from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials contacted the student’s parents and notified the school he attends.
Incidents or arrests on Sept. 20:
– Vandals damaged a home and vehicle on Mahaley Road.
The car was spray painted and three tires were cut and a window of the home was broken.
– Christopher Shaun Hamilton reported the theft of $2,600 worth of property in a break in at 170 Susan Lane.
Items taken included a 47-inch flat screen TV, two 19-inch TVs and three XBoxes.
The break in occurred between Sept. 14 and Sept. 18.
In other incidents or arrests on Sept. 17:
– Rodney Power of 110 Midway Drive, reported the theft of a lawn trailer from 958 Webb Road.
The trailer valued at $4,000 was taken between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sept. 17.
– A resident of Howell Road reported that someone stole over $1,000 in cash from her residence between Sept. 10 and Sept. 17.
– An Enochville resident reported while she was shopping at the Dollar General at 106 S. Enochville Ave., someone broke out a window on her vehicle and took several items.
The thief took a pockebook, $50 in cash, various cards including a Medicaid card, WIC vouchers and a prepaid cell phone.
