Garin Kluttz, a recent graduate of West Rowan High School, was named the North Carolina FFA State Star Farmer at the 81st North Carolina State FFA Convention in Raleigh June 23-25.
This award is given to the most outstanding high school agriculture student in recognition of superior work in their supervised agricultural experience program.
This program helps students develop a working knowledge of the agricultural industry by promoting entrepreneurship, citizenship or placement in an agricultural field of study.
Over the past few years, Kluttz has been building his entrepreneurial enterprise by raising and marketing beef cattle, starting a custom hay bailing operation and raising a variety of agronomic crops. Kluttz has been an FFA member for four years at West Rowan and is described as “an extremely hard working and dedicated agriculturalist,” by his agriculture teachers, Jason Chester and Clark Adams.
Kluttz’s work and dedication in growing his own business has helped him mold his future goals of become a fulltime farmer and agribusinessman.
