After a six-month investigation, the Kannapolis Police Department has charged Stacey Elaine Raper of 2303 Milton St. with the embezzlement of more than $100,000 from P&E Machinery, 2003 Lane St.
Derek Eudy, owner of P&E Machinery, requested the assistance of investigators when the Internal Revenue Service informed him of unpaid payroll taxes for the preceding five years for employees of his business.
Raper worked as the office manager and maintained the record keeping for the business. Several record-keeping discrepancies existed, which ultimately led to Raper’s arrest. Raper was incarcerated in the Cabarrus County Jail in lieu of a $200,000 secured bond.
The investigation is ongoing and Kannapolis investigators are receiving assistance from special agents of the Internal Revenue Service.
