Officers of the Kannapolis Police Department unveiled their new Continental Cargo 7- by-16 enclosed traffic trailer as part of the department’s traffic educational exhibit at VillageFest.
The trailer and equipment were bought with grant funding through the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program. Once the trailer is fully equipped, it will be used on all driving while impaired checkpoints and other traffic related issues conducted within the city of Kannapolis.
The trailer contains a generator, traffic cones, auxiliary lighting, traffic vests and signs that can increase the safety of the public and officers venturing into traffic checkpoints or traffic crash sites.
The trailer and equipment will decrease the need for additional officers in directing traffic at traffic crash sites and should reduce the overall amount of time officers spend at crash sites.
