Price High School was closed in 1969. The National Alumni Association was established in 1986. The Red and Black Ball is the primary fundraising event for the national scholarship program, which has awarded more than 50 $1,000 scholarships to high school students and has contributed to Livingstone College through the United Negro College Fund.
The local alumni chapter recently held a tea as a fundraiser to support the national scholarship program. The group recognized four members who have made outstanding contributions to the association and in their community. The honorees include Marie White, a school and community volunteer who raised nine children, and retired educators Dr. Maxine Broadway, Doris Jones and Thomas Morgan.
Contributions to the scholarship fund may be made by checks payable to The J.C. Price High School Foundation c/o Barbara Gaul, 728 Pinehurst St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
