“Stir Up the Gift” was the theme of Hood Theological Seminary’s fourth Annual Worship Arts Festival held last week.
The celebration included daily 10 a.m. campus chapel services that incorporated worship traditions reflected by the seminary community.
On Thursday evening, gifts from Hood members were displayed around the campus. The administrative wing featured a special presentation of carvings by Dr. Trevor Williams, a retired physician and member of the Hood President’s Advisory Council. Williams has given the carvings of religious symbols to Hood with the plans to have them integrated into the architectural detail of the new Hood Chapel when it is built.
A special worship service in the temporary chapel celebrated the many gifts from Hood faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends.
The centerpiece of the worship was a painting, “Gifts,” by the Rev. L.D. Flournoy, an AME Zion pastor from Charlotte.
