Hood Seminary schedules lectures

The Bishop Ruben L. Speaks Lectureship Series for 2009 will be held on the campus of Hood Theological Seminary on Oct. 1-2.
The theme of the lectures is, “It Really is the Twenty-first Century: Now What?” Guest lecturer is Dr. Mozella Mitchell.
Mitchell is professor and chair of religious studies at the University of South Florida. She holds a B.A. degree in English from LeMoyne College, Memphis; an M.A. in English from the University of Michigan; an M.A. in Religious Studies from Colgate Rochester Divinity School; and a Ph.D. in Literature and Theology from Emory University.
Some of her primary areas of research, teaching and publication include African American Religious History, African and Afro-Caribbean Religions, Comparative Mysticism, Women and Religion, New Testament Theology and Liberation Theologies. She has authored and edited several publications and is the general editor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Studies in Religion, Culture and Social Development series for Peter Lang Publishers.
In this series, Mitchell will deliver three lectures, as follows:
– Thursday, Oct. 1, at 10:10 a.m. in the temporary chapel: “It really is the Twenty-first Century: What now, Theology?”
– Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. in the temporary chapel: “It really is the Twenty-first Century: What now, Religion?”
– Friday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m. in Room 315: “It really is the Twenty-first Century: What now, the Holy Sacred?”
Hood Seminary officials say these lectures will be highly educational and spiritually enlightening. The public is invited to attend.
