Event showcases faculty, studentsOn Thursday evening, the Hood Theological Seminary Community Life Committee is sharing with the Salisbury-Rowan community a worship arts festival that will showcase the talents, gifts and diversity of Hood’s faculty and students.
Beginning at 6 p.m., seven venues will show various arts, crafts, musical talents, poetry readings and photographic displays that depict how art can be integrated into the worship life of a church or community.
Throughout the first hour, the Augsburg Fortress Book Store on the campus will provide light refreshments.
At 7 p.m., in the seminary’s temporary chapel, a Lenten worship service will be held using the liturgical arts of drama, dance and music.
An original drama, “The Passion Symbols Speak,” developed by Hood Seminary students in 1983 and revised recently by Dr. Mary Love of the Hood faculty, will be a part of this service.
The drama gives voices to the objects encountered by Jesus Christ on the road to Calvary.
The Thursday events are part of Hood’s Worship Arts Festival, which begins today and runs through Saturday.
Hood Seminary is located at 1810 Lutheran Synod Drive, which is off Klumac Road.
