Groups give away food Thursday

The Altrusa Club of Salisbury and the city of Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department are sponsoring a food distribution Thursday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. or until the food runs out.
The event will be for Rowan County residents only and will be at the Salisbury Civic Center, 315 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.
Please note that the club cannot make exceptions for those who feel that they cannot stand in line on the day of the distribution. They may bring someone to stand in line for them. The club also asks that people bring boxes or bags to carry their food out of the building.
Food stamp recipients should bring the letters which were mailed to them.
All others who do not receive food stamps can come to Salisbury Civic Center because they may also be eligible to receive the free food.
They must disclose their total gross monthly household income. The following are examples of the income guidelines: Family of one person, $1,127; two persons, $1,517; four persons, $2,297; six persons, $3,077.
Available food items are cherry apple juice, frozen chicken breasts, frozen chicken legs, frozen whole chicken, corn, grapefruit juice, macaroni, orange juice, peanut butter.
In accordance with federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture, the group does not discriminate against race, color, disability, sex or age.
