CONCORD ó Jonathan “Jonny” Richardson, a 14-year-old North Hills Christian School student killed in an auto accident last October, was remembered during a Donor Family Remembrance at the Speedway Club on Friday.
LifeShare of the Carolinas hosted the event, which included donor families presenting personalized quilt squares, a donor slideshow, candlelight remembrance and a special balloon release with messages from each donor family.
Gary Burris is director of operations for LifeShare of the Carolinas.
Larry Sprinkle of WCNC 36 in Charlotte was the host for the evening.
Organ and tissue recipients who shared their personal stories and their thanks to the families were Tom Aspenwall, Melissa McDaniel and Nancy Foltz.
Born July 6, 1994, Jonny was a freshman at NHCS, where he played basketball. He was also a member of the Kannapolis Church of God.
As an organ donor, Jonny gave life to a man in New York (heart), a man in Tennessee (liver), and a man in North Carolina (pancreas and kidney).
Jonny’s parents, Steve and Theresa Richardson, his grandparents, Richard and Kathleen Richardson, and special friends, Barry Hobbs and John Tansey, attended the event in his honor.
