Although county commissioners have approved an incentive package, Freightliner is still weighing its options.
A spokesman for the company, Daimler Trucks North America, said Monday night the company is working hard to conclude its site analysis and review. It anticipates a final decision will be made in the very near future.
The written statement by Amy Sills, a company spokesperson, noted that the company is considering various manufacturing options for its Freightliner-branded 915, 916, and 917 military trucks in anticipation of the planned mid-2010 closure of its Portland Truck Manufacturing facility which currently handles the company’s heavy-duty military vehicle production.
In the written statement, the spokesman noted that Daimler “appreciates the action of the Rowan County Board of Commissioners … in supporting the company’s proposed $16 million expansion and parade of its Cleveland Truck manufacturing Plant..”
