ATWELL ó Four people were injured in an accident at N.C. 152 and Deal Road Tuesday afternoon.
The two-car crash, which happened almost in front of the Atwell Fire Department, landed one vehicle, a Ford Explorer, upside down in a small grain field.
Seventeen-year-old Jessica Hague of 1045 Rogue Court, Kannapolis, was driving a 1992 Honda west on N.C. 152, according to Trooper M.T. Eason of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Barbie Wines, 38, of 590 Meadow Lane, Mooresville, was driving east on N.C. 152 when Hague attempted a turn onto Deal Road in front of her 1996 Ford Explorer.
Wines attempted unsuccessfully to miss the turning vehicle. Her Ford Explorer flipped over.
Eason said Hague told him she decided at the last minute to make the turn. He charged her with a movement violation.
Hague, Wines and Wines’ two children ó Kelli, 13, and Carrie, 10 ó were taken to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast with non-life-threatening injuries.
The collision tied up traffic for nearly an hour. Atwell and Enochville fire departments and the Rowan County Rescue Squad assisted.
