New Voices of Faith at Henderson Grove BaptistThe New Voices of Faith of Mocksville will celebrate their 12th anniversary Sunday at 4 p.m. at Henderson Grove Baptist Church in Salisbury.
This musical program is free to the public and will feature: the Barrino Brothers (with Jo Barrino, Fantasia’s Father), Mighty Pilgrimaires, Anointed Voices, Messengers for Christ, Brothers of Faith, Chosen Disciples, Fresh Anointing, Sensational Goldenaires, and Crusade Community Choir.
The master of ceremonies will be radio host B.T. “Dynamite” Johnson.

Messengers for Christ
CLEVELAND ó The Building will be hosting a pre-anniversary for The Messengers for Christ of Cleveland who are a part of the staff of The Building.
The program starts at 5 pm on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The main attraction will be a nationally known gospel group, The Gospel Four of Memphis, Tenn., making their first Rowan County appearance. The Gospel Four’s most popular song is “Everytime I Turn Around, the Lord Keeps Blessing Me.”
Also on program will be The Pilgrimaires of Salisbury, BB & The Spiritual Hilites of Mooresville, The Messengers for Christ of Cleveland, and The Anointed Voices of Charlotte.
There is limited seating. Advance tickets are $15 and at the door $18.Children 6 and younger are $6 at the door.

Dorsett Chapel
Dorsett Chapel United Church of Christ will celebrate its 96th church anniversary this Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Timothy Bates, a Salisbury native and youth advocate, will be the guest speaker. Bates is the pastor of two Statesville area churches, Cameron Presbyterian Church and Calvary Presbyterian. R. Thomas Wyatt Jr. is pastor of Dorsett Chapel.
Rutter Requiem
First United Methodist Church’s firstARTS series will offer John Rutter’s setting of the Requiem for the Feast of All Saints this Sunday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m in the church sanctuary.
The Requiem will be sung by the church’s Chancel Choir accompanied by a chamber orchestra under the direction of Matthew Michael Brown, director of music.
The featured soloist will be Tami Petty, a soprano based in New York City who has sung in New York’s Lincoln Center, San Francisco Opera Center, Chautauqua Opera, Central City Opera and with Canada’s London Fanshawe Symphonic Orchestra.
Petty’s first appearance in Salisbury is made possible in part through the generosity of church members Dr. and Mrs. Boyd Watts.
The church began firstARTS last year as a concert series to enrich the cultural and artistic life of historic Salisbury. All concerts and programs are presented through the generosity of members of First United Methodist Church.

Zoe Church
Zoe Church of Deliverance will change the Sunday morning worship service time beginning this Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Intercessor prayer will begin at 9 a.m.
Bishop Derek D. Kelly will be ministering every first and third Sunday mornings beginning this Sunday. He is the founder and Overseer of Zoe COD and of Kingdom Impact Ministries (KIM).
Elder Shay Geter is the senior pastor. Lunch will be served following Sunday morning service.
Mighty Miracle
On Nov. 6 and 7, Mighty Miracle Temple, located at 117 Long Ferry Road, will be hosting its “Releasing Fire” Conference. Apostle Joseph T. Hackett, senior pastor of Leviticus Ministries in Richmond, Va., will be the guest speaker. There will also be special musical guests.
Admission to this conference is free. Friday night’s service starts at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday’s service starts at 11 a.m.
On Saturday, fried fish will be served.

White Rock AME Zion
White Rock AME Zion Church in Granite Quarry will celebrate Christian Education Day this Sunday at 4 p.m.
The guest minister will be the Rev. Dr. Calvin L. Miller, presiding elder for the Winston-Salem District AME Zion Churches.
Miller is a graduate of North Rowan High School and Livingstone College, where he received a B.A. degree in sociology, Hood Theological Seminary, where he received the Master of Divinity degree; and Carolina University of Theology in Virginia where he received his doctorate.
Miller preached his first sermon at Ardis Chapel AME Zion Church in Salisbury. He has served South Iredell, Sills Creek, Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Churches. Also, in Charlotte, East Stonewall and Greater Gethsemane AME Zion Churches.
He is the presiding elder of the Winston-Salem District AME Zion Churches and he is the chairperson of the Board of Christian Education for the Western NC Conference AME Zion Churches.
He is a former instructor of basic education at Rowan Community College and Piedmont Correctional Center. He is also a former instructor at Livingstone College.
He is married to the Rev. Karen Roberts Miller, a pastor of the Lincolnton District of AME Zion Churches.
The Rev. Morgan Glenn is pastor of White Rock.
Talent hour
Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church presents “Table Top Themes and Talent Hour” on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 4 p.m. This event will take place at Primitive Baptist convention, 515 Miller Street in East Spencer.
The event includes viewing the various table decorations and a talent show. The reception at 4 p.m. will have salads, various hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and beverages.

Missions Festival
First United Methodist Church of Salisbury will host a Missions Festival on Sunday, Nov. 8, after the 11 a.m. worship service in the fellowship hall. The focus will be on the work the church does in the mission field at home and abroad. Featured at the festival will be a slide show, exhibits and food.
Local, national and international missions are funded through a portion of every dollar put into the offering plate each week at First Church. The congregation supports local missions such as Rowan Helping Ministries, One Church One Child, and Isenberg Elementary School.
Missions beyond the city of Salisbury include a team to Guatemala, youth missions, a disaster relief building team and a multitude of projects through conference benevolences and apportionments.
First United Methodist Church of Salisbury has been a worship and mission-oriented congregation in Salisbury for 226 years. The public is invited to the festival, which will conclude at 1:30 p.m.

‘Arise! Cry Out!’
Moms In Touch International of Salisbury is participating in “Arise! Cry Out!” a worldwide day of prayer for children and schools.

Methodist Connection
The Methodist Connection invites seniors to get connected with friends as they celebrate Thanksgiving with a covered-dish luncheon on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at noon in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church.
Seniors are invited to bring a favorite Thanksgiving dish and join in the fun, fellowship, and food.

Faith Healing and Life
Faith Healing and Life Ministries Inc. of 201 East Pinetree Drive in East Spencer will be sponsoring a Martin Luther King Jr. week of Celebration Jan. 11-5, 2010.
There will be a speaker each night for the week and they will close the week of celebration with a Martin Luther King Jr. celebration banquet on Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Salisbury Civic Center. Tickets for the banquet are $25 and will be on sale from Nov. 1-Dec. 31. Seats are limited so purchase tickets early.

Solid Rock
Solid Rock Church of God, 1004 Locke St., will be celebrating the Rev. Samuel A. Washington’s second pastoral anniversary this Sunday.
