St. Andrew’s
WOODLEAF ó The annual homecoming at historic St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Woodleaf, will be held Sunday at 11:15 a.m.
The service will celebrate the 169th anniversary of the consecration of St. Andrew’s on the last Sunday in August, 1840. Lunch will follow at the Woodleaf Community Center.
The Rev. Beth Wickenberg Ely will be the celebrant for the service. She is regional priest for the South Region of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina.
A native of Columbia, S.C., she worked as a sports journalist for major daily newspapers across the country as a first career, then entered seminary in 1985. From 1989 to 1996, she served congregations in Charlotte and Mooresville, and has also led churches in South Carolina.
She recently returned to North Carolina to work with Bishop William Gregg and other ministers to develop a new regional ministry for the Episcopal congregations of the Charlotte area and the Sandhills.
Singles ministry
Progressive Outreach Ministry, 600 N. Long St., is sponsoring a program through its singles ministry at 7 p.m., Sept. 11.
The speaker will be Pastor Glenn Jay Usry of Christian Outreach of the Piedmont, Inc. from Statesville.
Nasby Mills Jr. directs the singles ministry.

Mountain View
LEXINGTON ó Mountain View Baptist Church, 407 Mountain View Church Road, Lexington, in association with Freedom Crusade Ministry in Winston-Salem and His Laboring Few Ministries in Thomasville, will host an outdoor Community Outreach the week of Sept. 13-19th.
The tent will be located on Hwy 8 in the Southmont area. The event will begin each evening at 7 p.m. with guest evangelist Jerry McGee.
McGee, who turned from a life as a drug dealer and outlaw biker, shares his life-changing message around the country and in Central America.

Shiloh UMC
Shiloh United Methodist Church in Granite Quarry is having a Celebration Sunday Aug. 30. During the worship service, Bibles will be presented to rising fourth graders and Bible school promotion will be celebrated.
An old fashioned ice cream social will be held from 3-5 p.m.
The public is invited to the service and the ice cream social.
Mount Zion Baptist
Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Salisbury will observe its annual Women’s Day program this Sunday at 11 a.m.
The theme for the program is “Women Shout! God has given us grace.” The speaker for the program will be the Rev. Sherry S. Ford, associate minister of Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Faith Healing and Life
Faith Healing and Life Ministries Inc. will be celebrating annual Men’s Day Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Pastor William Moody of Bread of Life Ministries.

Mighty Miracle
