Trinity Presbyterian
Trinity Presbyterian Church (USA), 300 S. Caldwell St., will be having an installation service for the Rev. Olen V. Bruner on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Larry Summey of Franklin Presbyterian Church (USA) will be in charge of the service.
The special speaker will be the Rev. Albert Moses from Covenant Presbyterian Church (USA).
The public is invited.
East Rowan Chorus
St. Matthews Lutheran Church invites the public to hear the East Rowan Honors Chorus, under the direction of Dean Orbison, in concert Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.
A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall after the concert.
The East Rowan Honors Chorus is an auditioned group which performs frequently in churches and the community. Orbison, has won many awards including East Rowan Teacher of the Year, Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year for Rowan County and Time Warner Cable Star Teacher.
Landis First Assembly
LANDIS ó The Rev. Tom and Dr. Teresa Stamman of Impact Ministries International in Lonsdale, Minn., will minister at the morning and evening worship services at Landis First Assembly, 302 E. Corriher St., this Sunday.
Their ministry is designed to bring spiritual, emotional, and physical healing to the whole family. They have ministered in more than 1,000 churches since 1986. In that time, they have prayed for more than100,000 people, bringing God’s love and healing power to persons of all denominations, ages and backgrounds. Life-changing prayer will be offered at each service.
Morning worship begins at 10:30 a.m., and evening worship at 6 p.m. Because seating is limited, people are encouraged to arrive early.
Gethsemane Baptist
This Sunday at 4 p.m., the Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Clary L. Phelps will celebrate their fourth anniversary as under shepherd of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church.
The speaker will be the Rev. Vernon E. Brown, pastor of New Zion Baptist Church, Winston-Salem.
Brown was under the spiritual guidance of Pastor Linville of Piney Grove Baptist Church, when he answered the call of Christ and preached his initial sermon on March 9, 1997. On July 31, 1999, he was ordained.
Brown attended New Hope Bible College, where he received an associate degree in Biblical studies in June 1998 and bachelor of Biblical studies in June 2001. He graduated receiving cum laude honors with both degrees.
In April 2002, he was called to be the under shepherd of New Zion Baptist Church. While serving in this capacity, Brown’s vision has brought growth to the church and empowerment for the people. Brown’s strongest desire in life is to teach people how to utilize the power and gift that God has given to each of us.
He is married to First Lady Kim Brown and they have four children and three grandchildren.
Erwin Temple
COOLEEMEE ó The Usher Board of Erwin Temple Church will observe their annual Usher Day on Sunday with a special program.
Morning worship will begin at 11 a.m. with devotions and praise. The morning message will be given by the pastor, the Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr. and music will be provided by the Mass Choir.
Afternoon worship will begin at 3 p.m. with the special program entitled “The Seven Ups.” There will be seven guest speakers from different area churches.
First Lady Selena Barker of Refuge Community Baptist Church of Cooleemee and Sharon Corpening of Ambassadors Christian Church of Salisbury will be guest soloists.
St. Paul’s Episcopal
On Sunday, the Rev. Fred Thompson will be the guest celebrant for the 11 a.m. Holy Eucharist service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 930 South Main St.
The public is welcome for the service a time of fellowship and refreshments in the Parish Hall.
Whisenant to speak
CONCORD ó WBTV Salisbury Bureau Reporter David Whisenant is set to speak this Sunday during the 10 a.m. service at Vertical Horizons Church in Concord.
Whisenant has covered local news from across the Charlotte area and north since the mid-1990s when he began his reporting career at WBTV Channel 3.
He’s a longtime member and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Salisbury. Whisenant is a frequent guest speaker at churches, schools and civic groups and has won awards for his public service.
He is married to wife Jtan and a proud father of Kyle, a junior at Appalachian State University.
VHC is pastored by WSOC channel nine’s former Salisbury bureau reporter, Ron Magnuson. The two reporters developed a friendship while covering hundreds of stories for their respective TV stations during the past seven years when Magnuson reported at Channel 9.
Magnuson started VHC one year ago and left WSOC late last month after deciding to follow God’s call and go full-time in the ministry.

St. Peter’s Lutheran
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will host “Cowboy Church” this Sunday, at 3 p.m.
This is a monthly ministry with a relaxed style. The public is invited to pull on their jeans, and dust off their cowboy boots for this worship opportunity.
The Chapeleer Gospel Quartet will be the featured singers this month.

God’s Tabernacle
ROCKWELL ó God’s Tabernacle for Believers will celebrate their seventh church anniversary this Sunday.
The afternoon service is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. B.H. Casey, pastor of Powerhouse Ministries, Charlotte.
God’s Tabernacle for Believers is located at 304 W. Main St., Rockwell.
Reginald McConneaughey is the senior pastor, Frenchie McConneaughey, co-pastor of God’s Tabernacle.

Yadkin Grove
Yadkin Grove Baptist Church, 325 Leonard Road, will hold a winter revival Jan. 28-30 at 7:30 nightly.
Wednesday’s speaker will be Bishop Marvin L. McMillan of Charlotte.
Pastor Thomas Wyatt of Dorsett Chapel Church in Spencer will be the Thursday speaker. And on Friday, Bishop Derrick Kelly of New Faith Fellowship in Lexington will speak.

Million Penny drive
First United Methodist Church has partnered with Isenberg Elementary School as mentors and volunteers work with students one-on-one and in small groups and also have lunch with students.
They have also started a backpack ministry, provided groceries for families at Thanksgiving and donated 733 books to the school last year. Each child was given a book on the last day of school to take home and read during the summer.
This year, they are having a “Million Penny Drive,” already in progress. Students, staff and members of the church are collecting pennies to be used for technology at the school.
The group adopted 19 families at Christmas who received clothing, toys and grocery gift cards.
