Easter musical
CHINA GROVE ó The South China Grove Baptist Church choir will be presenting the Easter musical “No More Night” this Sunday at the 11 a.m. service in the church sanctuary.
South China Grove Baptist Church is located at 501 Haney St., one block off Thom Street, between U.S. 29 South and South Main Street.
The Rev. Shane Utley is the pastor, the youth pastor is the Rev. Ryan Bennett and the music director is Myra Jolly.
The public is invited to attend this presentation.
Calvary Baptist
Special services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church this Sunday in celebration of Easter.
Calvary’s sunrise service begins at 7 a.m., with a full breakfast served immediately following in the fellowship hall. This early service will be held under the church arbor and be highlighted by congregational singing, special music and a message from Pastor Rick Cockerham.
The remainder of the morning services will be early for the day. Sunday school will begin at 9 a.m. and morning worship at 10. There is no evening service.Calvary Baptist Church is located on East Ridge Road, just beyond Ellis Crossroads. There will be no nursery provided for the sunrise service but there will be a nursery during Sunday school and morning worship. The public is invited to attend.

First Presbyterian
KANNAPOLIS ó First Presbyterian Church of Kannapolis will conduct an Easter morning celebration this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall.
The service of praise and worship will be led by the Kidz Khoir. They will present the musical “Hallelujah! He Did It!” by Pamela Clampitt Vanderwalker.
Following the service, a light breakfast will be served.
The celebration of the resurrection will continue during the 10:55 a.m. worship service. The music ministry will present special music during the service.

Church of God
CHINA GROVE ó South China Grove Church of God at 163 Third Ave. will have a hot dog sale today beginning at 10 a.m. Proceeds will help with the church’s children’s ministries.
Also, there will be an egg hunt at 2 p.m. for children ages 2-8 .

Erwin Temple
COOLEEMEE ó Erwin Temple CME Church will hold its Easter sunrise service jointly with Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church Sunday at 6 a.m. The service will be held at Erwin Temple and the Rev. William Speas, pastor or Moore’s Chapel, will deliver the message. Music will be provided by the Moore’s Chapel choir.
After the service, breakfast will be served in the fellowship building.
The host pastor is the Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr.
Sunday school will be cancelled at Erwin Temple Sunday and morning worship will begin at 9 a.m. The Mass Choir will sing and Hannah will give the message.
Gospel program
The family of the late Charles (Kent) Cornelius will be having their 27th annual memorial gospel program this Sunday at 3 p.m.
Featured groups are The Pilgrimaires of Salisbury, The Anointed Vessels of the Carolinas and special guest, The Original Sensationalaires of Lexington. Everyone is invited to attend.
The program will be a Sills Creek AME Zion Church off N.C. 150 in Salisbury.
St. Matthews LutheranSt. Matthews Lutheran Church’s Easter sunrise service celebration will be preached by Vicar Volley Hanson, with Pastor Gary Coble doing the liturgy.
The 6:30 a.m. service will begin in the sanctuary. There will be anthems by the choir and handbells.
The choir will lead the procession to the cross in the cemetery and will sing “Alleluia Come and See the Glory of the Lord.”
Following worship, everyone is invited to breakfast in the fellowship building and remaining services. Sunday school will be 9:30 a.m.
Holy Communion will be celebrated as part of the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Pastor Gary Coble’s sermon will be “Saints By the Resurrection.” The Praise Team will sing two anthems.

Eternity Church
Eternity Church in Salisbury will be having a special message: “Is this the end? Where to begin in a world seemingly coming to an end,” on Easter Sunday at 10 a.m. There will be special music and drama.
Eternity Church meets at Salisbury Adventist Church on Sundays at 10 a.m.

Northside Church
Northside Church of God of Prophecy, Bishop James J. Lott, pastor, will be hosting an Easter sunrise service at 6 a.m. Other churches participating are Church of the Word of God with Pastor Watts and Open Door House of Deliverance with Pastor Karen Foxx.
The 11 a.m. service of praise will be led by Bishop Lott.
First Baptist
First Baptist Church of Salisbury will celebrate Resurrection Sunday with worship services at 8:30 and 11 a.m.
The Sanctuary Choir will present musical specials accompanied by orchestra, and both services will conclude with the congregation joining the choir for Handel’s “Hallelujah” chorus.
There will be no afternoon or evening activities.

Resurrection Life
A worship service of the Resurrection will be held Sunday at 10 a.m. at resurrection Life Church of Salisbury, located at 216 S. Main St. in the old Empire Hotel.
The service entitled “Celebrate Jesus” will include dance, testimony, scripture reading and live music performed by the Resurrection Life Worship Band. Casual attire is welcome.

Word of Life
The Word of Life Family Worship Center congregation will have a special Easter Sunday, 10 a.m. service only. There will be no Sunday school.
Members of the congregation, along with the drama and music ministry will present an original musical “He’s Alive” written by Dr. Martha Starks. The mime, and Logistical Dance ministries will combine and minister to the song “Sunday’s On The Way.” Everyone is welcome to attend.

St. Marks Lutheran
CHINA GROVE ó St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in China Grove will begin its Easter Sunday celebrations with the early service at Greenlawn Cemetery at 7:30 a.m. Everyone is asked to enter the cemetery under the stone arch.
Easter breakfast will be served in the fellowship hall beginning at 8:15 a.m. and will be prepared by the Council. The celebration of Jesus’ resurrection will begin at 10 a.m.

Love Christian Center
EAST SPENCER ó Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long Street, East Spencer, will have an Easter sunrise service, beginning at 6 a.m.
The speaker will be Pastor Richard Macon of Faith That Works Church in Lexington. He is a graduate of Livingstone College and attended Hood Theological Seminary. He is also a contemporary gospel artist.
The Love Center men will be serving breakfast after the service.
The public is invited to attend. The pastor of Love Christian Center is Bishop W. Ronald Hash.
Grace Lutheran
Grace Lutheran Church will present the musical drama “The Lamb Has Prevailed” at the sunrise service, 6 a.m. Sunday.
A breakfast prepared by the church men and sponsored by the youth will follow the service. Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m.
The Easter festival service will begin at 10:30 a.m. as the congregation, led by the choir, processes to the cross in the chancel and places live flowers on it during the processional hymn. The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated during the service.
Members of the confirmation class will affirm their baptism during the worship service.
Those to be confirmed are Sydney Aldridge, Michael Erwin, Jacob Fink, Cody Mullis, Megan Owens and Sarah Sloop.
Special music will be provided by the handbells.
Lynn Lippard is music director, Karen Lucas, organist. Patsy Parnell directs the children and youth choirs accompanied by pianist Teresa Yost.
The Rev. David P. Nelson is interim pastor.
Rev. Clee
The pastor and the men of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church will sponsor a dinner and comedy entertainment program on Saturday, April 18, at 5 p.m. The event will be held in the J. L. Stowe fellowship hall of Gethsemane. The Rev. Dr. C. L. Phelps is the pastor.
The comedy performer will be Apostle O. DeShea Cuthrell, aka, “Rev. Clee.”
Cuthrell is a native of Statesville. He has worked with many gospel artists, such as Shirley Caesar, Ricky Dillard, Myrna Summers and Stephanie Drake, just to name a few. Tickets are on sale for $15 for ages 13 and up; and $10 forages 7 thru 12. The deadline for ticket purchase is Wednesday, April 15.
