Education: UNCA honor lists

The University of North Carolina at Asheville has named students to the spring 2009 chancellor’s and dean’s lists.
The chancellor’s list is made up of full-time students who have achieved a 4.0 grade point average. The dean’s list is made up of full-time students who have achieved between 3.5 and 3.99 grade point average.
Kannapolis: Nelia Hamby, dean’s list.
Mocksville: Alex William Appelt and Amanda Jane Phillips, both dean’s list.
Mooresville: Amanda Leigh Berry, Ashley Dawn Damron, Andrew Alan Johnson, Kelsey Danielle Ridenour, Julie Baxter Williams, dean’s list; Tayler Jordon Harris, chancellor’s list

Doctoral graduate
Dr. George B. Jackson of East Spencer graduated from Gardner-Webb University during its recent 2009 spring commencement ceremony.
Jackson received a coctor of ministry in pastoral studies and was among 512 graduates who received degrees from the university.
Jackson is pastor of Citadel of Faith Christian Fellowship Inc. of Thomasville, and an instructor at Davidson County Community College and director of Minority Male Mentoring (3M) in Lexington.
Best Buy scholarship
Katherine Thompson, a student at North Rowan High School, has received a Best Buy @ 15 Scholarship.
She is the daughter of Mark and Debbie Thompson of Salisbury and plans to attend Columbia International University. The scholarship’s vale is $1,500.
