The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College board of trustees has named three new members to the college’s foundation board of directors.
Joining the RCCC Foundation board are:
– Dianne Green, Realtor and owner of Century 21 offices in Salisbury and China Grove;
– Carol Herndon, chief financial officer and chief administrative officer of Food Lion LLC;
– Carol Spalding, RCCC president and secretary to the RCCC board of trustees.
The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Foundation Inc. is a non-profit organization established to generate, receive and manage charitable contributions to the college. Since 1991, the foundation has provided a needed source of additional funding to the college. These funds have enabled RCCC to provide services and achieve a level of excellence which would not be possible through state and local public funding alone.
The foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors composed of area business and community leaders. The board oversees all foundation projects and manages the allocation of gifts and contributions.
In other recent action, trustees accepted a bid from Summit Developers of Salisbury to construct Building 400 on RCCC’s North Campus. The contract package totals $5.56 million.
The two-story, 38,000-square-foot classroom building will house RCCC’s continuing education department; community program facilities; classrooms for art, computer, GED, pre-college and general purpose classes; law enforcement training facilities; a study lounge; and faculty and staff offices.
It will be the first new building constructed on RCCC’s North campus in more than 30 years. To see an architect’s rendering, go to www.rowancabarrus.edu/information/bldg400.html.
