Education: Dean’s list, military appointments

Clinton Benfield Riddle, the son of Earl and Sandy Riddle of Salisbury, has been named to the dean’s list at the University of South Carolina.
Riddle is a freshman majoring in political science and pre-law at the College of Arts & Sciences.
To appear on the Dean’s Honors List, students must take at least 12 semester credit hours and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher (3.25 or higher for freshmen).
Military academies
WASHINGTON, D.C. ń U.S. Sen. Richard Burr announced his nomination of 32 North Carolinians to serve at the nation’s military academies.
The nominees were selected after an application and interview process conducted by Burr’s Academy Selection Committee, which is comprised of military academy graduates, veterans and community leaders from across the state.
U.S. Military Academy at West Point: Calli Prevo, Mooresville, daughter of Mike and Linda Prevo, attends Lake Norman High School; Thomas P. Ryan, Mooresville, son of Curtis and Robin Ryan, attends Mooresville High School.
U.S. Naval Academy: Caleb MacDonald, Mooresville, son of Mike and Delaine MacDonald, attends Mooresville Senior High School.
