Two people involved in a Saturday night accident on Airport Road are in critical condition at two different hospitals.
Salisbury Police report that the male driver of a Cadillac Escalade was on Airport Road near Gaskey Road when he crossed the center line and collided with Maria Sagrada Cervantes, who was driving a 1996 Honda van.
Police are not releasing the man’s name because his family has not been notified of the accident.
Two children in Cervantes’ van were treated at Rowan Regional Medical Center and released. A 13-year-old boy was in the front passenger seat and was wearing his seatbelt, as was the driver. A 1-year-old girl was in a child safety seat in the back seat of the van.
The driver of the Escalade apparently had a seatbelt on, too. Police report that the address listed on his license was for a vacant house. The accident is still under investigation.
The drivers were flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, but it was unclear which patient went to which hospital.
