Democrats, Republicans to hold conventions in Salisbury April 25

Politics will rule in downtown Salisbury on April 25.
Democrats and Republicans will be attending Saturday morning conventions.
Rowan Democrats will hold their county convention at 10 a.m. in the Rowan Administrative Offices Building at 130 W. Innes St.
Republicans from across the 12th District will hold their convention at the Rowan County Public Library, 201 W. Fisher St. That event also starts at 10 a.m.
Admission to the GOP event is $10.
County Democrats will assemble to elect a new chairman and other officers. All registered Democrats are eligible to participate.
Genoal Russell, current Democratic Party chairwoman, said she isn’t a candidate to continue in the job. Russell was picked to fill in after the death of Neal Smith of Woodleaf, a former state senator.
A nominating committee, headed by Sandy Reitz, will recommend a slate of officers.
