A local National Guard member and his family are hosting a weekend consignment sale at the National Guard Armory to benefit the guardsmen.
Sgt. First Class David Dowling and his wife, Cara, are organizing the Friday, Saturday and Sunday sale at the armory located off National Guard Road.
On Friday, the public can shop from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturday the sale will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. And Sunday, when selected items will be half price, hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There is a registration fee for consigners, which will help with expenses including equipment rental.
“We are waiving the registration fee, giving extra earnings and early shopping advantages to military families,” Cara Dowling said.
Organizers are also going to sponsor a lunch for the active guardsmen who work at the armory every day.
Consigners can either pick up unsold items or donate them to Goodwill.
The group has also identified two families who need help and will receive a credit to shop, Dowling said.
“So many families are having a very tough time. Also, since it is open to the public, it will benefit the Salisbury area,” said Cara’s father, Steve Caracappa.
There is still a need for more volunteers and people with consignment items.
