Civitan Good Samaritan award nominees
The story of the Good Samaritan is a well-known parable from the New Testament in the Gospel of Luke (10:25-37). Jesus is asked, “Who is my neighbor?” and uses the story of the Good Samaritan to illustrate that we are all neighbors.Who are the Good Samaritans in Rowan County? The Salisbury Civitans want to know. Tell Civitans about a compassionate person you know. They are looking for someone with a loving spirit and a generous heart who will sacrifice time, talent or treasure to serve others joyfully and without hesitation.
If you know of such a person, tell a Civitan and they could win the Civitan Good Samaritan Award. The award is presented annually to honor and recognize individuals who demonstrate the attributes of a Good Samaritan in kindness, compassion and service to others. To submit a nomination for the award, tell Civitans about the individual and his or her deeds (500 words or so should do it), but do not use the individual’s name. Attach a cover sheet to the nomination that includes the nominee’s name, your name, your address and your telephone number. Civitans also ask that you not tell the individual of the nomination. Nominations must be received by March 5. You can give the nomination to any Civitan member or e-mail it to Rodney Queen (rodneque @aol.com). The recipient will be honored at a Civitan luncheon at the Salisbury Country Club Thursday, April 2, 2009. Questions? Call Rodney Queen at 704-202-0319.
