The city of Salisbury is featured in a new textbook, “Local Government in North Carolina,” third edition. The author, Gordon P. Whitaker, is a professor of public administration and government at the School of Government within the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The book is intended for 10th grade economics and civics classes.
As stated in a press release, the purpose of the book is, “to encourage readers to play an active role in their own communities and to be personally involved in maintaining an effective government.”
The book was published by the North Carolina City and County Management Association and the School of Government with funding from the International City/County Management Association’s Fund for Professional Management.
