CHINA GROVE ó Police had to use a stun gun to subdue a man disrupting a tanning salon here Monday.
A China Grove officer was injured trying to subdue the man, who refused to leave Beach Bums at 629 U.S. 29 N.
John Alan Hall, 36, of 1064 Chalet Road, Cleveland, was charged with resisting, delaying and obstructing and assault on a government official.
Hall was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the fracas with the store manager and police.
Sgt. Brett Bass, interim police chief, said police were called shortly after 5 p.m. to the business. The initial report indicated a man had come in and laid down and wouldn’t get up.
Bass said that by the time police arrived, Hall had gotten up and was involved in a fight with the store manager.
“He (Hall) was irate, out of control,” Bass said.
Police ended up using a stun gun to subdue Hall.
During the struggle to get him under control, Sgt. E.C. Howard was kicked on the ankle.
He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast, where he was diagnosed with a sprained ankle.
Bass said Howard is scheduled to be out of work for a few days.
Hall was released on a $1,000 bond pending his appearance in Rowan County District Court.
