Smart Start Rowan
The Smart Start Rowan Board and staff hosted 200 child care workers at a Red Carpet Celebration recently at First Presbyterian Church.
The banquet included a guest speaker and humorist Emily Balance, recognition awards and music for dancing.
Several people and centers were recognized for their exemplary contributions to child care:
– Home Provider of the Year: Deborah Neely of God’s Little Blessings
– Teacher of the Year: Debbie McClintock of First Baptist Wee Center
– Director of the Year: Diann Safrit of South Rowan Academy
– Support Staff: Julia Alford of McKnight Head Start.
Without the daily “works-of-love” that each child-care professional offers to children, Smart Start Rowan would not be able to advance its mission: “Smart Start will develop, or assist in the development of, services that foster growth, encourage learning, and provide resources and support to child-care professionals and families of children ages 0-5 in Rowan County.”
