A China Grove man was seen taking trailer hitches from the Webb Road Flea Market and stopped later by authorities with nine hitches in the back of his vehicle.
Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies stopped Brian Keith Ritchie, 31, of 1455 Bostian Road, where they found the hitches in the back of his Chevy pickup.
The incident occurred Saturday.
Authorities need anyone who believes their trailer hitch was taken to contact the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8700.
Deputies charged Ritchie with possession of a schedule IV controlled substance from a previous incident.
He has yet to be charged with the theft. Authorities need victims to come forward in order to begin the process of charging Ritchie with individual thefts.
He was given a written promise to appear in court.
