CONCORD ó Cannon School invites parents of high school students from throughout the Charlotte region to its Concord campus Dec. 2 to learn strategies to cover the rising costs of college through scholarships and financial aid. The “Funding a College Education” event takes place in Foundation Hall at 7 p.m.
Strategies will be presented from experts from a prestigious scholarship program at University of North Carolina and the admission office of Davidson College, the nationally-recognized liberal arts college:
– Matthew T. Proto, director of Scholar Selection, Morehead-Cain Foundation, UNC-Chapel Hill
– Chad A. Spencer, Senior Assistant Dean, Davidson College
The event is the first in a series of information and strategy sessions for parents. On Dec. 14, Cannon School will welcome families of elementary school-age children to a “Young Children and Sports” program to explore the benefits of playing multi-sports and the dangers of specialization.
Parents with middle school-age children are invited to attend a Jan. 14 session on “Successful College Planning” that will feature expert advice on preparing middle school children for college and beyond. Both events take place in Foundation Hall at 7 p.m.
Additional details about all three events and an RSVP form can be found on Cannon School’s Web site at www.cannonschool.org/speakersseries.
