Buffalo Soldiers, Livingstone sponsor youth workshop

The Buffalo SoldiersGreater North Carolina Chapter, in association with Livingstone College, will hold a Youth Celebration and Gang Free Communities Workshop on Saturday.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Lincoln Pool Park, located on Old Concord Road. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
The workshop includes a presentation by Sgt. Scuba Diving School instructor James Gilchrist of Atlanta. Other topics include survival skills/life skills, writing and publishing, gang intervention and Buffalo Soldiers history presentations.
The purpose of the activity is to offer youth the opportunity to explore different and rewarding life experiences, to offer skills for coping with day-to-day issues, to explore positive options to crime and gang involvement, to expose them to role models in professions that they rarely encounter and to share with them the story of the Buffalo Soldiers.
