Blotter: Rowan man charged with stealing prescription drugs

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged James Duane Whitaker, 25, on March 10 with misdemeanor larceny at 3140 Miller Road for stealing 10 Klonopin pills.
Klonopin or the generic name clonazepam is a drug that can be used to treat seizures or panic disorders.
In other sheriff’s reports:
– Drug paraphernalia was found at 120 Midsail Road on March 10.
– Michael L. Upright reported March 10 someone forced entry into his residence at 5338 Cavin Lane, Kannapolis, and removed six firearms.
– Angela Diane Bice reported March 10 someone took a handgun from 1129 Phaniel Church Road, China Grove.
– Patrick David Miller reported March 10 a trackhoe was vandalized at 1614 Stoney Creek Subdivision off Villa Woods Drive.
– Marquise Dametrick Weddington, 17, an East Rowan High student allegedly had marijuana seeds on the campus March 10. He was charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, schedule VI.
– Brandon Scott Russell, 17, was charged March 10 with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, schedule II, and felony trafficking heroin at East Rowan High School at 175 St. Luke’s Church Road.
– George Everett Gadson, 48, was charged March 10 with felony indecent liberties with children.
– Cory Bruner Cassels, 25, was charged March 10 with felony embezzlement by employee.
– Bryan Maurice Ellison, 26, was charged March 10 felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury of officer.
– Jonathan Allen Phillis, 17, was charged March 10 with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, schedule VI, at 108 Ethel Lane, China Grove, where he was found with 11 grams of marijuana and a set of digital scales.
– Jennifer McKeithan, 21, was charged March 10 felony embezzlement by employee.
– Frederick Todd Jones, 39, was charged March 10 with misdemeanor communicating threats at 255 Rock Hump Road.
– Daniel Lynn Rea, 26, was charged March 10 with misdemeanor communicating threats at 2935 Lower Stone Church Road, Rockwell.
– Scott Alan Fischer, 42, was stopped for not having a tag and subsequently charged March 10 with driving while impaired at Julian Road/Interstate 85.
– Dustin Kenneth Stirewalt, 16, was charged March 10 with felony breaking and entering a building.
