Baseball cards stolen

A prized collection of baseball cards were stolen from a Rockwell home Friday.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft from the William Thomas Rychlicki home at 471 Preston Ridge Road. A glass was broken in the back door to gain entry. It occurred something between 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Friday.
The baseball card collection is valued at more than $2,500. Among the cards taken were: a 1962 Stamps of Mantle, Berra and Maris; 1968 Ernie Banks; 1958 Ed Matthews, 08 Bob Feller and 57 Billy Martin.
Other thefts and break-ins reported:
– A guitar taken from a Mount Ulla home has been recovered from a 12-gauge shotgun is still missing.
The guitar and shotgun were taken from the Elma Hall Key home at 660 Bradshaw Road on Saturday between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.
A door was broken with damage estimated at $500.
